Project description: A parking deck over occupied space is always a challenge to waterproof. This proved to be the case for the new building that renaissance arts school in la purchased. The parking deck had an asphalt overlay on top of a failing hot rubber liner. The school wanted to keep the asphalt finish for cars to drive on so the guardiandeck™ was installed 1st and the 380°f asphalt was applied over it.
Application: The asphalt and hot tar system were removed. The concrete was shot blasted to a csp 4 – 5. Cracks were routed and filled with a 2k urethane. New drains and overflow drains were added. Ft-6160™ primer was applied at 5 – 7 mils and a light broadcast of 30 mesh sand was added. For cracks larger than 1/16” wide fabric was sprayed in place with 40 mils of ft-2202™ polyurea. Ft-2202™ polyurea was applied at 80 mils. Ft-4300™ polyurethane was applied at 16 mils and a 10 mesh sand was heavy broadcast as a mechanical key for the asphalt. The asphalt was installed the next day.
