Freedomtuff 2245 cr polyurea
Project description: Every 9 years osha requires that this underwater ride be drained. The owner uses this time to do needed repairs. In 2006 polyurea was used as waterproofing for the expansion joints and cracks at that time. Because it worked so well they specified freedom chemicals ft-2245 cr polyurea for 50,000 sq.ft. Of the walls and floors.
Application: After the ride was drained of 6,300,000 gallons of water there was quite of lot of surface prep that was needed. Old acrylic paint from the 1950’s had to be removed and it was found to have toxic metals in it. When the concrete was exposed a scabbler was used to grind away the top surface of the concrete which left ¼” profile. Cement all from rapid set was used to parge the surface of the concrete. Moisture test were performed. Areas where moisture vapor was present ft-6600 mvr epoxy was use at 16 mils. All other areas received 7 – 10 mils of ft-6160 epoxy. Ft-2245 cr polyurea a high chemical polyurea was spec’ed at 100 mils to avoid possible failures due to unforeseen water chemistry changes.
