Solution: Project was done using chemical-resistant polyurea.  This technology offered a variety of benefits for both applicator and also for the client.  Spray techniques for fast-cure plural spray-applied coating application.   For example, Freedom Chemical’s Freedom Tuff 6160 is a two component 100% solids epoxy primer designed to treat new and existing concrete, masonry and wood. Freedom Chemical’s Freedom Tuff 2243 CR is a two-component chemical resistant spray applied 100% pure aromatic polyurea coating.  Used on vertical and horizontal surfaces and forms a continuous seamless membrane of a desired thickness on concrete, metal, fiberglass and geotextile fabrics.

Challenge: Restoration of a failed secondary containment lining system for fuel storage tanks.  The project consisted of two 8,000-square-foot containment basins for 750,000 gallon fuel storage tanks. It took the contractor five weeks to complete, including removal of existing urethane coating system, concrete prep, sealant replacement, and installation of new 80-mil liquid-applied membrane liner.

The fueling facility was able to have the containment areas resurfaced with minimal downtime, no dust, fumes or overspray
