Project description: in july of 2011 sta-dry waterproofing came to freedom chemical looking for a uv & light stable topcoat system. In addition, the coating had to have a non-skid surface that was easy to clean. After quick review of the project, freedom recommended using their gripseal™ topcoat system.
Application: the podium deck had an existing urethane waterproofing membrane. The system was starting to show significant discoloration and oxidizing. This left for a very difficult surface to clean. The urethane system was cleaned with 5000 psi water to remove the surface of containments. Freedoms ft-6160 epoxy primer was applied and 30 mesh sand was broadcast to excess to achieve non-skid and a consistent look. The freedomtuff gripseal™ grey was then applied in one coat at 5 mils.
Results: upon completion of the project, the owners were very happy with the look and texture of the coating. After the first cleaning of the deck, freedom received a call from the customer on how easily the surface was to clean. The owner said they would be using the freedomtuff gripseal™ on future projects.
