Project Description

In June of 2018, Gold Coast Transit commissioned JP Rodriguez to install a waterproof/protective coating for Gold Coast Transit Authority, Freedom® Chemical Corporations GuardianDeck™ was selected for the wash bays. The GuardianDeck™, achieved what the transit authority wanted a product that would not only endure heavy daily traffic but offer a waterproof surface.

Prior to the application of the GuardianDeck™ substrate (concrete) was prepped by shot blasting it to a CSP 4-7 to remove any existing contaminates or coating. First the Tuff® 6160™ primer was applied to the CMU and concrete surfaces and allowed to dry overnight before applying FreedomTuff® 2202 polyurea to the CMU walls and floor areas. The walls only required FreedomTuff® 2202 to protect the CMU walls from the chemicals of the washdown. The floor required a slip resistant surface for the maintenance crew to walk on this was accomplished by applying FreedomTuff® 4300 with sand and the FreedomTuff® 4000 polyaspartic topcoat.

The FreedomTuff® product line is a revelation of what Polyureas, Polyurethanes, Polyaspartics and Epoxies are about. When so many products have been “made” for maximum impact, at Freedom® Chemical Corporation we’ve been content to let our products speak quietly. No need to shout when you have something special to say.
